Monthly Competition Rules

There is normally one competition each month (five over the season) which gives members a chance to enter their pictures in any category and at their assigned level. Content can be any subject chosen by the member.

Categories

Projected Image; Colour Print; Monochrome Print.

Levels

Beginner; Intermediate.

Entries

Members may enter one picture/image in each category. (NB this has been changed from two images per member from 2010 onwards.) They must be handed to the Competition Secretary by the date shown in the programme (typically on Assignment nights).

Projected Images

Digital files to be submitted (preferably!) as 8-bit JPEGs in sRGB colour space with a resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels. Rotate portrait format images to upright. All images to be titled. Film images should be in 35mm format, mounted in plastic or glass, titled and spotted.

Prints

Prints should not be less than 7 x 5 inches and mounted on card. They should be titled on the front or back of the mount. Beginners only may submit unmounted 'en-prints'.

Judging

The Competition judge(s) are independent experts appointed for the season. The judges will mark images out of 20 and give the club an informative analysis of their deliberations (typically half way through the month). The points awarded are totalled at the end of the season for prize giving.
